To enter, look through your recent favorite shots or snap something new-anything that captures the true character of an event, person, or place. We're looking for that extra insight or style that tells us more, and turns a picture into a story. Then upload your photos here by July 31, 2010.

Discover the world's finest photojournalist talent while soaking up the ambiance in Perpignan, capital of France's Pyrenees-Orientales. Perpignan is located near the Mediterranean Sea in the south of France and is only about 30kms from the Spain. Perpignan retains a distinct Spanish flavour as it was once the capital of the kingdom of Majorca and later Catalonia's second-largest city after Barcelona. Perpignan's height was in the 13th and 14th centuries, when the kings of Majorca held their court here.
Visa Pour L'Image is an internationally acclaimed photography festival where the cream of the world's photojournalists meet to exhibit their work and debate the burning questions of their profession.
As major partners' in the festival, Canon and National Geographic are able to offer unique access to the winner to the major events at the festival as well as a fabulous weekend stay in Perpignan.

When does the contest begin and end?
The contest begins on June 15, 2010 at midnight BST, UK and ends July 31st, 2010 at midnight BST, UK. All entries (digital submissions only), must be received by July 31st, 2010.
How do I submit my photograph?
You may submit your entry digitally only on this site. An entry consists of one to three digital photograph(s), digitized transparency submitted digitally at 72 DPI with approximately 8 x 10 inches in its long dimension, submitted online at www.tellusyourstory-uk.com.
Is there a limit to the number of photos that I can enter?
Yes, each entrant may submit only one "story", which can consist of 1-3 photograph(s).
How many prize-winners will there be?
1 Grand Prize Winner and 2 runners-up.
What are the prizes?

When will the winner be announced?
The winners will be contacted by mid-August 2010. The winning photographs will be posted online by 31st August 2010.
Do I need release forms for people in my photo?
If they are recognizable and especially children, you need a release form provided upon request.
Can photographs be cropped?
Yes.
Can photographs be manipulated or enhanced?
No.
What is the resolution required for my photograph?
Files submitted for uploading must not be larger than 1,024 (1Mb). (However, you will need to have higher resolution available, 300dpi and 5 x 7 inches, to be eligible to win.)
Can I enter a photograph that I entered in another contest?
Yes, but only if it was not awarded any prize and if it is not currently being considered in another contest.
What about rights for my photograph?
You retain your rights to the photograph however; by entering the contest Canon UK and National Geographic have the right to publish your photo online or in print for advertising and promotional purposes.
